Craig and Gulden's wedding took place at the very remote and totally beautiful Rancho Sol Del Pacifico in Malibu, CA.  The lovely Beth Helmstetter saw that every detail was perfect for this awesome couple.

Gulden getting prettified....

The dress -

Gulden and Craig chose to see eachother before their ceremony, so we had plenty of time (and light) to shoot portraits -

Some portraits of the lovely couple -

They had their ceremony on a beautiful cliff with an awesome view -

Some details -

Sort of a fun shot from cocktail hour, before it got way too dark to shoot -

Craig and Gulden, making their grand entrance! -

And their first dance -

I love this shot of Gulden dancing with her dad -

And one last little detail -

It's blog catch-up day!  Last Sunday, I shot Sarah and Kevin's intimate wedding at her dad's house in San Marino.  I shot Sarah's sister's wedding three years ago and so it was nice to catch up with her and her family.  The wedding was totally Sarah - casual, laid-back and personal.  It was really a fabulous day!

The lovely Sarah -

A couple of little details -

Sarah and her dad, Randy-

My former clients, Leanna and Brian, and their gorgeous new baby, Savannah!  Congrats guys!

I think Sarah looks awesome in this shot -

After the ceremony, we sort of cruised around the house and shots some portraits of the newlyweds!

And one more that I just love!

To Sarah and Kevin:  Congratulations and thank you so much for letting me be a part of your special day!
delightfully,
Chenin

Yesterday I shot Lisa and Jason's wedding at La Venta Inn in Palos Verdes.  It was a gorgeous day and a wonderful couple.  I shoot at La Venta a lot (was there two weeks ago actually!) and really challenged myself to shoot in new places on the property.  It was a ton of fun to bring a fresh set of eyes to a place I've seen a lot of lately :)

The dress-

A little getting ready -

I had the chance to shoot some portraits of the gorgeous Lisa before the ceremony -

And one more -

Then it was ceremony time!  It was nice to *finally* have some sunshine during a La Venta ceremony -

Doesn't Jason look so happy to be married?!
Some portraits of the lovely couple -

A couple details (florals by the fabulous Bobbe Vagell  Floral Studios)

The grand entrance -

And a ring shot, just for fun -

To Lisa and Jason: Have an amazing time in Greece!

I am so excited to share some fun news with you all!  My studio and work was featured in a new book, entitled "Professional Wedding Photography: Techniques and Images from Master Photographers."  I've been working with the author for some time now and it's really nice to see it come to fruition.  I am lucky enough to be one of the 10 featured photographers and am in some awesome company, including the Bebbs, Jen Dery, Altf, Andrena Photography, Cliff Mautner and George Weir.

Here is a the description of the book:
"From emotional bridal portraits and intimate images of the ceremony to dynamic reception and wedding party shots, this illustrative sourcebook explores the vast array of image styles available to modern wedding photographers. Containing interviews with the top 10 wedding studio owners in the country, this indispensable reference offers a variety of opinions on everything from art and business philosophies to scheduling, handling retainers, writing contracts, and executing effective marketing plans. More than 15 images from each pro demonstrate classic and cutting-edge techniques--as well as each photographer's signature wedding portrait style--and are accompanied by details on recreating the scene. Additional tips on inspiring expressions and moods, modulating lighting, and adjusting composition while keeping clients relaxed during this emotionally-charged event are also included."

Hi there!  Time for my monthly rant/update/plug post!  I have lots to cover, so I'll get right down to it!

First off, new TRA2 samples on the website!  That's right!  If you've been on the fence about our newest Totally Rad Actions, you can go to the site and download a couple to try out.  For free!  And who doesn't like free?  It's just one way that we help to spread the radness :)
sampletra.jpg

And speaking of the Totally Rad Actions... WE'RE HAVING A SALE!  Visit the site this week only, for a super-sweet deal!
sale.jpg

We also added a couple of video tutorials on the site, explaining some of the more perplexing actions in the new set.

In other news, Carlos Zambrano, pitcher for my beloved Chicago Cubs, pitched a no-hitter the other night!  It is the first Cubs no-hitter in 36 years!  It was really awesome to watch and makes me even more excited for the post-season!  Only 4 more wins, and the Cubs are National League Central Division Champs! Woo-hoooo!

In less happy news, XM Radio canceled their punk station, Fungus 53, and put on a 24/7 AC/DC channel instead. I wish I was kidding, but it's true.  If you want to read an R-rated rant about this latest news, check out Doug's Blog.  Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I am convinced that it has to do with WalMart's exclusive deal to distribute AC/DC's upcoming album.  In protest of this tragic turn of events, I am boycotting XM Radio, WalMart, AC/DC and the entire country of Australia.  Feel free to join me in solidarity.

In other events, Murray is still the cutest dog on the planet, Prison Break is back and kicking my ass, I am utterly disgusted by the music on the radio right now (which makes the XM fiasco all the more heartbreaking), I like The Hippos, and I still have a few spots at Image X - New Orleans left!
imagex.jpg
I will be talking about identifying and developing your own style, including how to brand yourself like BAMF.  Even if you don't think you'll learn anything, I could still use your company as I try my hand at being the only sober person on Bourbon Street :(  Hope to see you there!

delightfully,
Chenin

Lisa Robbins said: I love these posts! The whole world is rooting for your Cubbies! They could really do it! I'd love to join you on Bourbon Street. A little kiddo recently told me that Shirley Temples were better than I probably remember. Makes me almost willing to try! (09.17.08 @ 02:00 PM)
Cameron Clark Photography said: That van is the scary mystery machine.... (09.17.08 @ 02:00 PM)
Bordi said: Hi Chenin! Forget regular radio/XM radio...it's all about Pandora.com now! You can completely customize your own radio channels to only play the type of music you want. And if it plays a song you don't like, just tell it and it will never play that song again! Best thing that ever happened to my ear drums. (09.17.08 @ 02:19 PM)
Amanda Auer said: Prison Break is kicking MY ass, too! The best thing they could have done is un-kill Sarah!! (09.18.08 @ 03:22 AM)
Holly said: Yeah, forget the radio, I gave up on that a long time ago. I usually just listen to whatever CDs I have or when I am at my 9-5, I listen to http://last.fm I didn't hear that Wal Mart was going to be exclusively selling AC/DCs new stuff, that doesn't even make sense to me. Sorry you lost your XM station :( I just downloaded the TRA2 demo last night... Still getting the hang of it, but they're really cool. Thank you for sharing these awesome demos! (09.18.08 @ 04:47 AM)
Abra said: Hey there Chenin, I am so excited by the sale on actions as I have been lusting after them for some time now. Somehow though, the shopping cart does not like me and won't let me add TRA2 to it. This makes me sad. I don't want to miss out on the sale but despite several tires, I cannot order them. Is anyone else running into this problem? Sorry to have put this as a comment on your blog but the site also wouldn't allow me to e-mail you guys. Thanks for your time. (09.18.08 @ 09:57 AM)
Amy Carruthers said: I'll be keeping you company at Image X!!! I can't wait to meet you - I've been following your work and blog for a long time and LOVE what you guys are about. I'm so excited to be inspired mid-wedding season - and I know my upcoming clients are excited about that too. : ) See you in a few weeks! (09.21.08 @ 11:40 AM)

jody said: Hey Chenin! Love Love LOVE your work here..omg. I am a newbie photographer..just for my own pleasure..but like to do things the Best possible. I have emailed about the "free" samples for Rad actions but never heard. Could you lemme know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks! I'll be back often! You rawk!! (10.03.08 @ 10:04 AM)
