Allison and Tim will be welcoming their new baby next month, and I had the pleasure of photographing this lovely couple before they become a trio-
About four months ago, I put out an all-points bulletin on Twitter and Facebook that I was looking for a family who would allow me to photograph their birth experience. I thought it might take weeks, even months, to find a family who was interested. To my surprise, I was contacted almost immediately by Gianna, who was every bit as excited as I was. Fast forward a few months and Gianna and I met for coffee to discuss her birth plan and get to know each other. When I met Gianna I instantly fell in love with her openness, honesty and absolute bravery for letting me document her birth.
All in all, I spent about 11 hours photographing Baby Charley’s arrival in to this crazy world. With Gianna’s husband, Gary, Gianna’s two best friends, her Mother in law and her own mom on Skype from New York, this was a very full delivery room. The sheer energy in the room and excitement for the arrival of this baby was infectious and I am so grateful for the experience. Baby Charley is a very lucky little girl.
And for the photos that this family so graciously allowed me to share with you…
To Gianna, Gary and Baby Charley! I will never be able to repay you for allowing me this experience. I grew as an artist and, most importantly, as a mom. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

These are beautiful images – so glad to have stumbled upon this post on your blog as I prepare to photograph a birth for the first time as well. I know it will be an amazing experience, thank you for sharing about yours!

Wow! You have a beautiful family. I am so happy for you.
Congratulations and Best Wishes!!!! -
We had someone there to take pictures when our first baby was born. I absolutely adore those pictures. We didn’t have anyone there for our second (thought we knew it all) and I really missed it. (Not the same telling hubby to grab the camera as soon as little boy was born.)

Congratulations on capturing such a precious moment.

You should do a home birth next time!!! Just a different scene of a beautiful experience.
I was lucky enough to photograph Sarah and Justin’s wedding five years ago and was thrilled to find out that they’re expecting a little one this Fall. It was such a treat to reconnect with this beautiful couple and to share in their baby joy -
