Last night, Doug and I joined the lovely Becker, Jessica Claire, Jasmine Star and her husband, JD, and the Humphreys for some good old fashion fun at the OC fair. Our times were filled with over-priced-impossible-to-win games and lots and lots of fried food on a stick. Of course, Doug had to try the Deep Fried Coca-Cola (which was actually quite delicious!), Jasmine and JD had an egg-roll on a stick, Jessica had pizza on a stick and I had to have my yearly deep-fried Oreo fix. But, by far, the most disturbing item on this year’s Fair Menu was the Krispy Kreme Raspberry-Filled Chicken Sandwich (you didn’t read it wrong.) I knew you all wouldn’t believe that such a culinary delight exists, so I came armed with photos -
A nice close-up of our fried-food smorgasbord (fried twinkies, fried oreos and the chicken sandwich) -

And an even closer-up of the sandwich (for those wondering, it is a raspberry-filled Krispy Kreme donut with a piece of greasy chicken inside. To add insult to injury, they serve it with a side of honey!) -

And proof that Doug ate some (I also took a bite, which resulted in one of those awful split-second decisions to either swallow it or spit it into my napkin.) -

And proof that we lived to tell the tale -

Chenin
Last Saturday, Gloria and Gabe tied the knot at Lake Hills Community Church in Laguna Niguel, followed by a reception at my favorite place – Seven Degrees! I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for a while, because Gabe and Gloria were so easy-going during their engagement session and so much fun to shoot! I started the day with Gloria while she got ready -

Some details -

The lovely Gloria -

Then it was off the the church for a sweet ceremony that incorporated a little of Gabe’s heritage -

I love to shoot the couple coming back down the aisle! -

A couple of portraits at the church -

This is my favorite kind of light! I love to play with transition between light and dark to make an otherwise uninteresting setting cool -

Then it was off to the reception, where I pulled Gabe and Gloria away for just a couple more portraits around Laguna -

A couple of reception details -

Their first dance -

And a ring shot -

To Gabe and Gloria: Thanks for sharing such a beautiful day with me! Enjoy Maui!
Delightfully Yours,
Chenin

Hi Amanda:
I started with nice soft light, then I used Pro-Retouch, followed by Technicolor Dream World on the fourth image! Hope that helps! -
thank you Chenin
-
Good job on the reception shot-I likey! Great harsh light shot-love that one
-
All of your shots are amazing, but I’m stunned by the first one! Chenin, can you please share how you did it. Are you using an old vintage camera? I mean, I know you do use actions, but is that really an action? wow!
-
Awesome work.

Last Tuesday, I met Veronica and Sean for a little pre-wedding portrait session. They are having a very intimate wedding later this Summer in June Lake for a date I’m already booked for, so we decided to do a portrait session instead. Despite the fact that the weather didn’t cooperate, we got some great shots of this lovely couple! -

To Veronica and Sean: Thanks for the delicious cookies! I hope you have a beautiful wedding!
delightfully yours,
Chenin

You guys are sooooo great! I love the first shot! I have your actions and love the sx-70 and TDW, as well as old skool! Thank you for creating them!

Is it wrong of me to be jealous that you and Doug got such a cute photobooth picture? Ugh, I feel so mean being jealous…whatever, I’m gonna go hang my grainy four-person photobooth photo on my fridge and try to decipher who’s who
deep fried food on a stick is about the primary reason my wife and i loved going to the LA fair so much! but yeah, that krispy kreme raspberry-filled chicken sandwich looked enough to put me off my stomach…yikes.
and that is one rockin’ photobooth picture…nice shades!
We had a great time last night! Let’s hang out again soon!
ok, so i can handle an egg roll on a stick (still trying to picture it though!) and deep fried oreos, but a Krispy Kreme Raspberry-Filled Chicken Sandwich?!? OMG it’s like a heart attack waiting to happen! you and doug are brave souls!! and love the photobooth pics!
I honestly have to say that the though of chicken and krispy kremes together like that make my stomach churn. Some of the other stuff I can handle on a once-a-year basis, but I don’t know that I’d be so brave. Kudos for trying!
I was debating going to the OC fair, and now that debate is over. It’s a definte MUST DO. All that fried food has me jonesing big-time.
Seriously one of these days I’m going to bump into you guys and it’s going to be very embarasing for both of us because you have no clue who I am but I know the name and face of every top pro in So Cal and it would be like a celebrity sighting. (Just to be at the Spectrum and see Becker cuddling his krispy kreme at the apple store would have been priceless…)
Anyway sounds like fun. Unhealthy fun, but TASTY fun.
Sweet TLR btw, too, is that the real deal or is it that little novelty digital TLR?
=Matt=
i loooove the oc fair and all the fried-food goodness it has to offer. i wouldn’t ever order the chicken sandwich, but it doesn’t sound that bad to me.. it makes me think of chicken & waffles: an oddly wonderful pair.
you’re brave for taking a bite!!!
This pic is so cute what a cute couple
