Doug and I headed to Vegas earlier this week for a very special engagement session. Not only did we get to shoot this adorable couple in downtown Las Vegas, but we got to be there to document something never before seen on the Boutwell Blog – a tattoo session! Brenda and Steve didn’t want any old engagement session – they wanted to get tattoos to represent their upcoming nuptials, and they wanted us to shoot it! Did I mention we have the coolest clients in the world?
First, we went downtown and braved crazy wind and awful heat -

The crazy wind -

Then it was off to Studio 21 – the Coopers resident tattoo shop! -

Brenda checking out the outline before she officially “goes for it” -

And Steve giving a little moral support -

Thanks for the awesome experience Brenda and Steve! How are we going to top this at the wedding?! – Chenin
We were up bright and early for a nice morning wedding last Saturday. Armi and Sal had a traditional Filipino wedding and it was so fun to share in all of their traditions. Armi and Sal had a special place in their heart for Hawaii as well, so they incorporated a little “aloha” into the wedding. So let’s get to sharing some images -
First, some details…

I really liked this shot of Armi putting on her garter -

And the adorable flower girls making their way down the very long aisle -

Some fun ceremony shots -

And some portraits -

I knew how much Armi and Sal loved Hawaii, so I spent a lot of time trying to make “tropical” looking photos for them! -

A shot of their adorable cake -

And their first dance -

Congrats Armi and Sal! Enjoy your honeymoon! -Chenin

Doug and I shot a really fun wedding on Memorial Day! Alyssa and Mike we a super-cute couple and were so in to the photos and all the fun little details! They hired Christine Saunders of The Spiraled Stem to do the florals. But these weren’t your everyday flowers! The Spiraled Stem has gone “green” and Christine used organic flowers, recyclable materials and lots of imagination to make some amazing earth-friendly flowers for Alyssa and Mike.
Here are so of my favorite shots from the day!
The rings -

The beautiful Alyssa -

They had three of the most adorable flower girls I have ever seen! -

A couple of ceremony shots -

The happy couple -

After the ceremony, Alyssa changed into a beautiful kimono for her grand entrance. It was the same kimono her mom wore to her wedding, forty years ago! -

Alyssa’s bridesmaids were so much fun! They wrote and performed a song for the newlyweds during the reception -

And finally, their first dance -

Congrats Alyssa and Mike! And thanks for sharing your day with me! -Chenin

that lego bride must work out. awesome shots, very creative once again.

Hey Doug and Chenin love the pics. I love the look on the old mans face clapping while they walk away married. How long do you usually spend on the formals? What is your approach? See ya!
-
Your images are consistently rockin’! I love the post process you guys do – very inspiring stuff. This is also one of my favorite places to shoot, very interesting venue.
-
The clapping as they leave is brilliant.. great capture. I am also ohhhhing over the black and whites. You guys ROCK black and whites. Your actions are the only black and whites which look ‘right’ with Australian light. I must have 50 black and white actions but they rarely work well with Aussie light. THANKS for making yours available.
-
I was wondering, what kind of camera do you use?
-
Hey, was just wondering what you thought about my site and blog. I hope I can work with you some more and bless you and Chenin!
